ArtPrize winners: ‘Intersections” historic win not the end for Agha

MICHIGAN—Although she went home with the largest amount of money ever awarded to one artist in a single ArtPrize competition, Anila Quayyum Agha is continuing her career in teaching. Shortly after taking down “Intersections” last October, the GRAM moved the piece to its third floor Wege Gallery, where it remained on display until late January. “Intersections” is expected to remain at the Dallas Museum of Art until Aug. 23. The public relations manager for ArtPrize tells 24 Hour News 8 that they will announce the next stop for “Intersections” by early September. [link]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
