Masami Teraoka criticizes the Catholic Church in paint

HAWAII---I would love to be able to show you all of Masami Teraoka’s artwork on display here at the Museum of Art. But as we are a family website, I can’t. But the 79-year-old Japanese-American’s larger works are so graphic many readers would be shocked, dismayed and maybe even disgusted. Teraoka has commented on American culture before. But his current works, called “Cloisters Last Supper — Triptych Series,” are different. Like his earlier works, they blend genres and clash cultures. There is a lot of blood and gore and sexual content. [link]

Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
