Christie’s Art Sale Includes Religious Works of Europe and America

NEW YORK---Christie’s launches Live with Art sale, a series of auctions on August 23 and 24 in New York City. This auction includes everything from botany-themed porcelain to baroque birds and lemons,  as well religious art such as "Saint Paul" by Flaminio Torri (Bologna 1620-1661 Modena) and "Little Church" by Orville Bulman. Flaminio Torri, a native of Bologna, first studied under Giacomo Cavedoni (1577-1660) and then worked as a pupil of Simone Cantarini (1612-1648), whose workshop he took over upon the latter's death in 1648. Orville Bulman, a self-taught artist from Grand Rapids and Palm Beach, found his artistic inspiration in the African-American populations of the south and the Caribbean islands, especially Haiti.
