"Triumphant Entry" by Sadao Watanabe
TEXAS---Sadao Watanabe, a Japanese Christian and artist, was browsing through a Christian bookstore when he realized that nearly all the book covers were illustrated by European paintings and statues. He decided to begin illustrating the stories of the Bible using Japanese folk art techniques. The exhibition “Sadao Watanabe: Beauty Given by Grace” displays 50 of his original momigami and washi prints, cards and calendars through Dec. 12 at the Abraham Art Gallery in the Atrium of the Mabee Learning Resource Center on Wayland Baptist University campus.
