Gordon Parks Foundation Awards Fellowships to Guadalupe Rosales, Hank Willis Thomas

Artists Guadalupe Rosales and Hank Willis Thomas are the recipients of this year’s Gordon Parks Foundation fellowships, which are given annually to artists working on themes related to representation and social justice. The foundation based in Pleasantville, New York, is giving the artists $20,000 grants in support of new projects. Rosales, who appeared on an ARTnews list of Los Angeles–based artists to watch last year, frequently focuses her work on her city’s Latinx and Chicanx communities, and has made a project of archiving photography related to each. It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
