MoMA PS1 Reopens James Turrell's Installation

“Meeting” in 2016. The James Turrell installation, which closed in January, has just reopened.
After about six months of indefinite closure, MoMA PS1 has reopened an installation by the artist James Turrell, known for engaging viewers’ perceptions with real and artificial light. The work, “Meeting,” was closed in January when construction from a pair of luxury apartment buildings near the museum, an outpost of MoMA in Long Island City, Queens, became visible through a rectangular opening in the ceiling. A minimal environment, it alludes to Quaker meeting houses and frames the waning light and weather. It was intended to give an unobstructed view of the sky. [More]

It was a maximalist experience for two minimalists who love to collect. We sold off multiple collections, including snow globes, Mary sculptures, paperweights, Disney plates, nutcrackers, 21c penguins, walking canes, and 100 prints and paintings! Most of it was in storage, but plenty was on display. We did it by inviting our community of artists and collectors to an estate sale before opening it to the public. Museum Calls Off Kehinde Wiley Show, Citing Assault Allegations

Bates for The New York Times The Minneapolis Institute of Art announced Thursday that it had decided not to move forward with a planned Kehinde Wiley exhibition, citing recent allegations of sexual misconduct against the artist, which he has denied.
