Hindu Jain temple Will Burn a Demon Effigy to Celebrate Dussehra

PITTSBURGH---Dussehra, a joyous festival in the Hindu calendar, will be celebrated Sunday with the burning of a 15-foot-tall effigy of the demon king Ravan at the Hindu Jain Temple in Monroeville. The pyrotechnical destruction of the fireworks-strapped figure represents the triumph of good over evil. “All of the Hindu community comes here to celebrate,” said temple president Hitesh Mehta.
