RELIGIOUS ART | NEWS OF WEEK

ALPHA OMEGA ARTS
By Tahlib
"DO NOT DESTROY" at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco is the Talk of Week, especially for those moved by this week's Koran burning protests in Afghanistan. The tragic headlines from  Afghanistan look all too familiar and by the second day, killings and shootings over the Koran (Quran) burning began to be reported. Back in California, the exhibition Do Not Destroy: Trees, Art, and Jewish Thought, whose title is is taken from a commandment in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 20:19), seeks to remind us of the peril that comes from the wanton destruction of war. Maybe if we were listening to these artists, versus political leaders, we would stop destroying the trees, the holy-books, and the people too.
