During 2014, ancient religions have been reintroduced to the world because of the spread of war. One of those mysterious religions is the Mandaeans, who follow John the Baptist. In the new book, "Heirs to Forgotten Kingdoms" Gerard Russell explores disappearing religions, and their symbols and rituals including the Mandaean Darfesh. The darfesh symbol which resembles a Christian cross is actually a symbol of the "immersion in the Tigris" river. One of the book's photos (above) of a Mandaean baptism is my NEWS OF WEEK.
