Religious Art is Advertising | Rome

All art is Advertising, "even religious art" according to Mark O'Connor one of the nominees for the 2011 Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP). O'Connor's comical but effective entry in AICP's annual commercial competition argues that the Sistine Chapel was an ad campaign project for the Roman Catholic faith that worked.

Absolutely true. Art regardless of religion was always used as a tool to advance religious agendas. Without religion we would not be able to enjoy so many Buildings, Paintings, music etc. Religion was used as first tool to organize societies and spur development. Since Art was used to advance religious / moral agenda comparison with Advertisement as way to promote commercial interest with help of generic (Not artistic) images may be shocking but.....
Shocking, but right on point, and why not?
