Virginia Museum of Fine Arts hosts 'Maharaja' exhibition, a tribute to Indian kings

VIRGINIA - The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is poised to open a big-ticket exhibition, "Maharaja: The Splendor of India's Great Kings," which was organized by London's Victoria and Albert Museum. [link]
The bulk of the 200-object array, however, dates from 1700 to 1947, when India achieved independence from British rule and the maharajas were stripped of their political power.
