CALIFORNIA---The small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan is home to the most intact and vital Buddhist art tradition in the world. In this lecture, John Johnston, Coates-Cowden-Brown Curator of Asian Art at the San Antonio Museum of Art, will discuss the development of Buddhist art in Bhutan and will discuss the role Buddhist images play in monastic rituals.
