TEXAS---When an artist friend of Norberto Clemente‘s told him about The Big Show–an exhibit of 69 works by 61 artists at the Lawndale Art Center in Houston–Clemente was surprised. Clemente’s painting The Worship (2011) made the cut for the show, which received 915 submissions from 381 artists. The Worship, Clemente’s painting, is “the most overtly religious in theme” in the show, says Dennis Nance, exhibitions and programming director at Lawndale.
