Makoto Fugimura Paints "Jesus Wept" During the Holydays

Detail of new commission "Jesus Wept"
Makoto Fugimura is a leader in the religious arts movement. Tweeting, I assume from his New Jersey farmhouse/art studio, he announced: "What I was working on today in my studio: a commissioned piece in theme of 'Jesus Wept'." Considered the leading Christian artist today, by museums, art critics, and artistic-peers, we are blessed everytime he tweets out one of his images. While I am moved by the work, of which I believe this is only a small detail, I do feel a sense of irony in hearing of painting this theme during this joyful Advent season.
