"Bathing" the Buddha is one of the traditional ways to commemorate the Buddha's birthday. Vesak is the holiest day in Buddhism and a season of special holy significance to all Buddhists around the world. On this day are celebrated the birth, the Enlightenment, and the death of the Buddha. Bodhi Day on the otherhand is the day to only focus on his "enlightenment."
