The 11 Most Hilarious Religious Paintings, According to "Cracked"

CRACKED
By Josh Wingo

Regardless of how you feel about religion, you can't deny that it has given us some of the greatest art of all time. Think about the pressure it puts on an artist -- Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel ceiling knowing that he was trying to capture the most absolute expression of beauty, creation and perfection imaginable. It's really easy to get this kind of painting wrong. Terribly, hilariously wrong. [link]

I like most of these artists, but I understand how some might see them as funny. I even agree that a few were funny but not for the reasons cited by the author. I think the funniest thing is that the author's focus was so contemporary, again betraying a certain amount of education on the subject, and that he choose only Christian works. You should link the works, especially the ones that have been featured on this blog. It's a worthy addition to AOA NEWS though.
