ALPHA OMEGA ARTS

Aïda Muluneh's "99 Series" (above) is a photographic series interpreting "Hell" as inspired by Dante Alighieri's epic poem written in the 1300's. Note the deathly white make-up and the three enveloping bloody red hands. "The inferno," said Aïda Muluneh, "is not down below; it is here, ever-present...." Forty African artists, including Aïda Muluneh explore "The Divine Comedy" at the Savannah College of Art and Design Museum of Art, and that makes "99 Series" my NEWS OF WEEK.

Join us each November for our annual celebration of the religious imagination. Our goal is to promote creating, discussing and collecting religious art. When you follow religious artists, you look for others who do the same. Some of us join as "Creators" who exhibit at those celebrations; others as "Collectors" who provide artist support for the celebrations; and others join as "Friends" that subscribe to this weekly e-newsletter; (or follow on: Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, or Soundcloud).
