NEW YORK---This highly acclaimed international loan exhibition will close in just two weeks—on Sunday, January 3. Drawn from more than 50 institutional and private collections across Europe and the United States, Kongo: Power and Majesty presents 500 years of Kongo culture—from the end of the 15th century, when a Portuguese explorer first set foot in the kingdom, through the early 20th century. From a dynamic assembly of 15 monumental power figures to elegantly carved ivories and finely woven textiles, this landmark exhibition explores the art created by Central Africa's most gifted artists.
