Pre-birthday dinner at The Original Crab Shack at Chimney Creek on Tybee Island with a plate of steamed, boiled and raw shellfish, as well as BBQ pork and chicken.
Born, August 7, 1938, in Xenia, Ohio, Verneida Iva Britton is the great-grandmother of 26 boys and girls ages 1-19 year's of age, and she's also my mom. She's been the head of Vacation Bible School, the president of the PTA, a community council president, and she led Cincinnati's Annual Breakfast Honoring Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr for ten years at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. She's also a retired public school teacher and a lover of Black American history. Today, she turns 80 year's old, and what did she want to do? She wanted to spend a week at Tybee Beach, Georgia and that's where she celebrates today!
