Before COVID-19, we'd marked Mother's Day as the 2009 death anniversary of Ernest's father and namesake. This year, we are celebrating it as an embrace of the women his father most loved: his wives, his daughters, and his mother. The paintings of new artist Naudline Pierre reflect that embrace. Through her unique pallet and androgynous figures, she reinterprets biblical narratives, as moments of loss filled with affection. While we wait for her Spring show at MoMA to be rescheduled, Naudline Pierre is our collector's tip of the week.

The exhibition will feature new work by the 2019–20 cohort of the Studio Museum’s foundational residency program, artists Naudline Pierre (b. 1989, Leominster, MA), Elliot Reed (b. 1992, Milwaukee, WI), and E.
